This forum has been helpful, but never completely answered my questions about renting cars in Mexico. As a consequence, I did lots of research about Mexico's car insurance policies and coverage from USA credit cards.

The fee is about $25/rental (it's per rental period, with a 30 day limit, I think). You have to activiate the coverage, which can be done online.
