Had to go that route vs another car rental company, and it was the only way to resolve the issue at hand despite being a “status” member of their network.
Ideally, the best solution would have been to save receipts. However that is hindsight. If you are 100% certain that you did no wrong, then take to social media (e.g. Budget's Facebook page or Twitter). Budget's Twitter handle is "@Budget". Do it, because corporations monitor these sites and are responsive to customer complaints.

Our experiences with Budget at the Las Vegas airport have been consistently disappointing, especially in terms of customer service.
