Re: car rental companies nowadays. 1 year ago. In PR now. We got our car through Costco (Alamo, picked up at airport) $562 for a week…. I think that’s a great price. FYI - in the past 8 years no one has ever beaten Costco price.

FYI: when I called Thrifty for prices, I was told it was $40.95 per day + $40 drop off fee+ $13.65 per hour for up to to 2 additional hours beyond 24. After that we are charged for an additional day.

If it is cheap to drop off in Ponce from SJU, maybe drop off there and pick up again for the drop off in Ceiba. thats alot of work though. I think enterprise also has a drop off in Fajardo. I think they charge a flat $50 drop off charge and you can probably get a great deal on a car from priceline.
The rental car is already equipt with the toll pass. It was $3.95/day that you went thru a toll plus the cost of the toll. I don't know what all of the individual toll charges were but driving for a week around the island and using tolls all but one day I believe we ended up with just around $40 in charges (daily toll fee plus all tolls).
There are also two car rental places right in Rincon (on the 115) : Hertz (Jose: 787 823 4646) Carr 115 k, 11.7 (corner of Calle 11 in the Texaco Station) Angelos's (787 823 3438) Carr 115 k 12.0 (Vista del Mar Plaza) You can call and see if their prices are better than what you are quoted for airport pickup (there is a sizable airport tax).
