    Totally got worried as Iphone/Google Maps wouldn't work because of cell. Then i figured out - it is easy to "download" maps by selecting an area in Google Maps - once you do that, it works fine. GPS signal works fine in Acadia - just you don't have cell service where Iphone/Smartphone based app tries to download maps on demand.
