   6. Re: Subway transfers. 5 years ago. Klzl, as far as I am aware, you can get a free BUS transfer within two hours of swiping your MetroCard at a SUBWAY station (at the beginning of your journey). So, theoretically, yes, I suppose you could walk 1 mile from the subway and then catch the bus and get a free transfer.

   I wouldn't take the subway all the way to Battery park. I would get off at one of the subway stations closer to George's. Rector or Wall Street depending on the subway lines you are using and then just walk down after. Gets cold here in the mornings that time of year so you would probably sit inside the ferry anyway.
