Afternoon - Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone to Red Lodge MT (along Beartooth Highway) - Google maps has distance as 96 miles, driving time about 2 hours.
Our trip for Montana is for June 2024, flying into Bozeman (Southwest points) and then renting a car. No kids, just 2 adults. No kids, just 2 adults. We'll go to Bozeman for the night so that we can tour the Rockies Museum and Gallatin History Museum.

If your flight is later in the day/early evening, you could just stay in Bozeman. If you drive to Missoula to stay overnight, it's 194 miles (little under 3 hour drive). The next decent place to stay would be Polson (264 miles and a little over 4 hour drive). Then Bigfork which is only 38 miles from West Glacier.

Norris to Gardiner- 26 miles (52 minutes) Gardiner to Livingston - 56 miles (50 minutes) Livingston to Bozeman - 30 miles (25 minutes) to airport maybe another 15 minutes. Total- about 5 hour 18 min drive. The above way is maybe 10-15 miles shorter than going through West Yellowstone and up the Gallatin Canyon. Deb.
1. Re: Determining best route to Glacier from Bozeman. 7 years ago. Going from Yellowstone to Glacier is a pretty long drive. 7-8 hours. If your staying at Canyon you have to add the time for leaving the park so another 1.5 hours. Going to the far side and going over the GTSR is not something I would add to that drive.
