You're paying in advance. That leaves you nothing on the debit card to have fun with. When you return the car the Co will balance the actual cost.

   All reliable rental companies need a credit card in the name of the driver and renter. Maybe you can rent a car without, but then it would be with a local rental company, without insurances. And you would have to give a huge security deposit by cash (a few thousend dollars).

Car rental companies have historically not accepted debit cards (or check cards), but now most will, with deposit restrictions. A hold on a debit card is like giving them cash.

It's one of the major companies and pretty good, I'd say. Like with Alamo...you get to choose your own car from the row of car class you've reserved.
