mKiaratravel, my card (HSBC) does have a chip in but every-time I have used it I have had to sign. Never got a PIN number from the bank for the credit card (only bank card) , odd I suppose. but they were well on the ball (more than the UK bank)if the card was used out of the ordinary and rang up to check with use.....sorry I digress..

I am traveling to Malaysia in 1st week of Feb 2015. I want to know what is the best (safe, easy) payment method for shopping, eating etc. Please suggest on following points-. 1)Cash- Ease of conversion from INR to MYR, maximum limit. 2)Travel card- provider (ICICI bank does not provide for MYR currency) 3) Credit card and other options.
Taking a trip to KL in a few weeks and a friend of mine said not to use credit cards in Malaysia as it isn't safe. Is this that bad? I'm not sure if she meant in smaller shops.
