    At the very least HSBC seems a lot more strict in being sure you tell them when and where you're using the card abroad, especially in Cuba. Personally I wouldn't depend on it, I'd bring cash and keep the card as emergency back-up. Read these two posts, they have a pile of money exchange, credit card and debit card info.

I used it in the airport shop and to get money out from an ATM in the cadessa so even it you take one and can't use it in the shops you could use a cash machine (the one's in the cadessa foyers seemed fine and that were the ones I used).
