   Alamo/Costco didn't come close to Dollar's DHCR prices for our 2018 trip. With some reluctance, we made the switch to Dollar. There were no problems with Dollar's quick car pick-up or drop off. For 2019, we've reserved Dollar through DHCR -- with frequent searches for lower rates at Costco & Autoslash.

I have booked a car rental at the Kona airport with Budget and now I see a better price with either Thrifty or Dollar. BUT i see all of these companies get really bad reviews on Trip Advisor for this location.

   I never rent from companies with a financial themed name, so I never ever rent from Budget, Thrifty, Payless, Dollar and Similar. I used to use Hertz, Avis & National, but Hertz and Avis have been so dependable and reasonably priced the last 10-12 years, I've mostly dropped National.
