If your son can wait until he gets off of the airport, it would be so much cheaper to go to a Walmart, Target, Best Buy king of store. If he has to buy at DFW, there are two located in the D terminal- Best Buy Express and Straight Talk Wireless.

   If you're expecting to use your own phone over there, make sure it is NETWORK UNLOCKED. Being unlocked for "global roaming only" won't help you when attempting to use a different sim. I'd go for a run to the Ala Moana shops and get solid advice. If your own phone isn't the correct frequency and you buy a sim, it'll be wasted money and wasted time.

   Save. Any SFR or Orange boutique will sell a SIM card for about 30-35 euros and you can refill them at will. SIM card expires 6 months after the end of the validity period of your refill time. If you can live without it till you get someplace with an actual mobile phone service store (AT&T or T-Mobile) you'll have better choices and won't get ripped off. Any place in the airport is a third party and if you search you'll find some negative stories about buying at the airport.
