   There's a lot of room between black slacks and red pants! I like light gray trousers... goes with everything, doesn't feel as hot in the sun. Even if you're packing light, I don't see why you can take a mix: pair of slacks, pair of khakis/chinos, pair of jeans. If you can find summerweight chinos, they're lighter to pack and cooler to wear.
