Thrifty car rentals did a bait and switch, waiting for me to arrive to tell me that my reserved vehicle was not available. They then charged me 3x what my reservation was for to get a similar but smaller vehicle after I refused to pay $400+ for a suburban. Ny $117 van cost me $360 for 3 days. They knew they had me and they really screwed me over.

Avoid Thrifty in the San Juan Airport. Poor service and cheaters with hidden up charges. If you refuse their damage insurance they will put a $500 hold on your CC / or debit. They are obliged to remove that hold once the vehicle is returned intact. They do not. Thrifty has no customer service resolution department.
It was total waste of time struggle to be in line for 2 to 3 hrs to rent a car at this location. The car was good but they never told about cleaning charges which came in as a surprise charge on the card. Tried to call multiple times but no response. This is the worst rental car experience I had since last 15+ yrs.

Perfect rental, upgraded my vehicle too! Rented from Thrifty at Newark airport. Was concerned because online reviews weren't good but when I got there 30 minutes early, they were able to get me a vehicle right away. My wait time was 10 minutes, and they upgraded my vehicle from a compact to a SUV without additional fees.

Terrible service -- took nearly two hours to finally drive off. Return of car was equally time-consuming and complicated. Hertz and Thrifty run by the same guys, so not much incentive to care about customer service.
