15 years ago. Without question, Bozeman is the superior city, with all (or at least most) of the accomodations you will be used to being from New York. Nevertheless, being a Butte native, and loving the city I was born in, I've got to give it a plug. There is more history in Butte than (Bozeman + Helena) x 100.

Sep 1, 2023, 11:50 AM. Save. I've driven 287 many times to get up to Helena. From Bozeman, it's 98 miles to Helena via I90/hwy 287. If you go via I90/I15, it's 115 miles. Fourth could be Bozeman to Three Forks to Helena (US 287) & see the sights in the city of Helena. Maybe take the Last Chance train tour & see the capitol bldg. Then drive west on US 12, and if time, take MT 141 up to MT 200 thru the Blackfoot River area.
