More bad news....if you don't own a car, and therefore don't have your own auto insurance, you'll have to purchase liability insurance to go with your car rental.Might be best to go through something like AutoEurope.com, and choose a rate that includes liability coverage (your credit card probably gives you automatic collision coverage, but not liability).

45 helpful votes. 1. Re: Car rental insurance. 12 years ago. You need Collision Damage Waiver which covers damage you do to the rental car. This is sometimes known as Loss Damage Waiver. You also need Supplemental Liability Insurance which covers you against damage you do to some else (their car or their person).
Reviewed October 6, 2015. Great rental. I used to travel a lot for business and was even a president's five star member at one time. However this time takes the cake. We received a new car maybe only 1800 miles on it, clean and ready when we walked out the terminal. However that is the norm for gold members.
