Which Rental Car Company. Jan 31, 2024, 8:18 PM. I have a rental book using DHCR with Thrifty. DHCR Alamo has also come down in price and is only about $25 more than Thrifty for the same category. Which one should I go with. I transferred my Thrifty rental to Thrifty to use the skip the counter blue chip program.
Budget vs Avis vs Alamo. I am using Discount Hawaii Car Rental to book a jeep for my honeymoon in August. We are staying 10 nights and getting the best price from Budget ($687) but I have read some bad reviews about them. For an extra $160 we can get a similar car from Avis and an extra $300 we can do Alamo.
Definitely Alamo is better. I am not a Budget fan in ANY airport. Join the Alamo Insiders, get a small discount, book a car then you can check in on-line and pay - then you can just go to the lot and pick the car. I just rechecked my reservations for January, and they are lower so I rebooked with the new prices.
Pre-Covid, we needed to return our Alamo rental on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to return it at the Sheraton Black Rock. They had an Alamo/Enterprise desk. We left our time-punched parking ticket on the dashboard & dropped the keys in a secure key box. In 4+ decades of travel to Maui, we haven't had issues with car rentals.
3. Re: Budget vs Alamo car rental. 6 years ago. yes Alamo way preferable with online check in and skip the counter. Budget does not let you "skip the line" they apparantly have a seperate fast break line. The last time I was with Budget there was a line out the building and they let people in a few at a time. Wait times were about 90 min.
Answer 81 of 94: I have a reservation with Alamo right now and I see that Budget has come down in price and is about the same price as my reservation with Alamo. Is one better then another?
