It operates on a different payment network that doesn’t have universal acceptance outside the USA. As of March this year, Barclaycard signed an agreement with Discover such that Barclaycard’s merchants operating in the UK can now accept cards that run on the Discover Global Network… both ‘in-store’ and online.
1. Re: Accepting the Discover Card. Discover cards are more likely to be accepted in Tourist areas and NF is just that. You should be able to find more merchants who take Discover here than in any other (non-tourist) places. Of course, I doubt it is as popular as VISA/MC but your chance is pretty good.
