Instruct the boss to exit the terminal at door #3 on the departures level, using the crosswalk to reach the middle 'island' where he'll find two bus shelters in case of weather. As you approach the terminal, stay in the left inside line, should be an easy pickup. 3-5mins to make the loop around.
1. Re: Miami airport passenger pickup. There are no set pickup areas. American operates from the North Terminal and will be the first airline you see as you enter the airport. I suggest having them meet you on the upper level (Departures) as its much less congested than the lower (Arrivals) level.
Votes. August 2021 update: all hotel shuttles are on the lower level. Grab your bags on the lower level, exit the doors behind you, and follow the signs to the shuttle. There’s a designated stop for all hotel shuttles. over a year ago.

Once you have passed through Immigration & reclaimed your baggage, just follow exit signs to exit terminal. Then when you are outside the Arrivals terminal, you notify your Uber driver the number of the door where you are waiting.

Re. Uber/Lyft, they pick up from the arrivals (lower) level, not the departure (upper) level that someone implied above. The Uber/Lyft lane is the second one over (first reserved fir taxis). Typically, their app detects the Door number you’re closest to (e.g. door 20) and tells you, and the driver, to meet across from that door.
