Instruct the boss to exit the terminal at door #3 on the departures level, using the crosswalk to reach the middle 'island' where he'll find two bus shelters in case of weather. As you approach the terminal, stay in the left inside line, should be an easy pickup. 3-5mins to make the loop around.
1. Re: Miami airport passenger pickup. There are no set pickup areas. American operates from the North Terminal and will be the first airline you see as you enter the airport. I suggest having them meet you on the upper level (Departures) as its much less congested than the lower (Arrivals) level.
We recently stayed in the Wyndham Gardens airport hotel. We arrived at 5pm after a long flight so got the shuttle to the hotel and then got the 6am return shuttle back to the airport the following morning . Then when you are outside the Arrivals terminal, you notify your Uber driver the number of the door where you are waiting.

The MIA Mover to the car rental center in Miami is located on the 3rd level of the airport terminal near Concourse E. You can access the third floor via any of the pink elevators in the main terminal. Once on the third floor you will take a moving walkway toward the MIA Mover transport center which is centrally located between the parking garages.
