The reviews you saw are probably from supermarket that's pretending to be a part of the cargills chain. Yes, you get quite a few of them, around the country. There's even a 40 foot "Tescos" in Negombo.

Jan 2016 • Solo. This building oozes history, with it's two storey red facade and distinctive red and white arches. Cargills was once a thriving department store in the middle of Colombo. Unfortunately it is now just an empty store, with only a KFC operating from a corner ground floor tenancy.
