Normally, I look up the car price on Hotwire and then reduce it about 20-25% and bid on Priceline, eventually beating the Hotwire offer. This time, Hotwire was so cheap, I didn't even bother. Both Hotwire and Priceline use Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Alamo, and Budget, as I have had cars from all of those.

Just found out HOTWIRE charged me $212.00 more than the current rate of renting directly from ALAMO Car Rental on my upcoming trip Dec 2013 to Sarasota, Fla. The non refundable , no cancel rate of $438.00 is nearly double the $256 direct rental rate of Alamo. Calls to customer service at Hotwire non productive.

I'm going down for a week at the end of this month, and I want to get a cheap rental car. I usually use Hertz, but for some reason, their prices are inflated to over $500 for the week! Hotwire has some cheap options, but I don't know which rental car company it will be, and it is non-refundable, so I'm kind of nervous.
The only issue with car rentals is they charge you when you make the booking and if the price goes down, tough luck.
