Shortage of vehicles due to car rental companies selling off inventory during pandemic, coupled with few new cars caused by chip shortage. Try one of the majors at an off airport location.
Answer 11 of 12: I need to rent a car for two weeks this summer and the cheapest airport rental is $1200 for a mid-size car. I can get a standard at some of the rental places offsite for $600 for the same time period.

You can join a rental cars gold club or executive club or whatever and then usually skip the lines. Last time I rented a car (not denver) I was 2nd in line. By the time I go the car there were 25 people lined up. My review would have been great, and everyone else would have said the line was forever.
