The membership is also good in any other state you may travel through. The hotel discounts alone are worth it and we have used the roadside assistance and free towing on several occasions (great peace of mind if you do get stuck somewhere with a flat tire, dead battery, or worse). I do appreciate their non-assistance services such as maps and guide books as well as hotel discounts. Beats joining AARP and discounts are usually the same. Try also posting in the Road Trips forum where there are some serious trip drivers that may have more experience with other plans.

The membership is worth it. The maps are free so if you are traveling that is $20 or more in maps and guide books. On top of it you get. AAA rate for hotels which is about a 10% discount on hotels. You also get AAA service from travel agents.

It does cover ambulance service, medical evaluation, nurse escort if necessary, cash advance for medical payments to keep medical care going if your credit card isn't enough.
