Unpleasant surprise from AVIS South Africa. 6 years ago. I rented two times in Avis Car Rental South Africa last month. My first rental should have cost 4,638.00 ZAR but they charged me 8946.06 ZAR. Charged 3050.14 ZAR for something called "Misc Charges". My second rental should have cost 847.68 ZAR and they charged me 1011.88 ZAR.

I have raised a dispute with my credit card company, as well as Avis South Africa but my credit card company (Citibank) was unable to resolve the dispute due to "noncooperation from merchant).

like i said, the only people denying shady practices of car rental companies in south africa are group 1 and 2 individuals in post #11.. all merchants hate charge back. as consumers, you should exercise your rights. this also mean you should be smart and be equipped with evidence (photographic, videos, documentation, receipt etc)
