Scott, what about these three car rental companies do you prefer over Budget, Thrifty, etc. Just curious because I posted on the NY forum about which companies to AVOID. A lot of people say just choose the cheapest. The Alamo Skip the Counter option does look appealing.
19 posts. 8 reviews. 7 helpful votes. Beware Car rental... possible scam. 14 years ago. We were in Kauai Feb 19-26 and rented a car from Discount Hawaii Car rental. I was very pleased with the price. We reserved an intermediate car. When we got to the Avis counter, they gave us a Toyota Venza.
-Hawaiian airlines discount with Avis: K816401 (This one tends to be the cheapest)-Island air discount with Budget: U030087-Other rental car options include Discount hawaii car rental, Adventures rent-a-jeep (used cheap 4x4s), Costco, Priceline and Expedia. I'm sure there are lots more options, but found these to be the best.

My husband, who picks up the car, said the Budget line was HUGE, and the Avis line was very short, like none.
