11 years ago. I agree with M4RKM - subway maps are the best. The problem with the apps is that they are are only good for pre-planning a route. They are almost useless once you are already on the subway, since they rely on a data connection.
1. Re: free transfer from subway to bus. Yes, the free transfer is within 2 hours, the card "remembers" it. On a regular bus you put the card in the fare reader and it will say "transfer" on the LED. On an SBS bus (like the 34th street bus) you put you card in the machine at the curb at the bus stop and get a paper ticket.
