   Skyscanner gets the prices from providers ( airlines and online travel agents). Now a lot of these online travel agents do not have live prices, do not show all their hidden costs / fees. So in summary: Skyscanner is good to give you ideas re. routes, schedules. It can also give you some indications re. prices, but those have to be checked.

   Skyscanner is a fine site for research. But the links to the companies that sell the flights are just advertising links. Skyscanner does not guarantee that any of those companies are any good, and MANY of them are really bad when it comes to actually providing those prices or having any customer service.

   1. There is no air fare fairy. The airlines decide how much to charge and much depends on supply and demand. So the going rate is what the airline is charging, not adverts that do not display live prices. And that's pretty much what you get with Skyscanner and other comparison sites.
