Airlines provide all sorts of different types of assistance - assistance for blind people, assistance for deaf people, assistance for people with learning disabilities, etc etc.

Terrible American Airlines experience. Our flight to Dallas was delayed (eventually cancelled) so we missed connecting flight to honolulu. Rebooked us the next day ( I was on hold for 2 hrs to talk to someone—11pm-1am) which cost the 4 of us $350 for two hotel rooms addl night, and $400 for seat upgrades to get only remaining seats on connecting flight.
