Trying to do online check-in, but Lufthansa keeps giving me this message: "Dear Passenger, a visa or Resident Permit is needed by you to travel to Germany". There's no one available at Lufthansa at this hour to help me sort this out.

    I would also call your credit card company to let them know you plan on making foreign transactions. This could be an anti-fraud block. Some posters here suggest clearing the cookies from your web browser before trying again. (And I'd wait at least overnight before trying.) Good luck!
