   So you are looking at 9 different buses (well, one is a light rail) and over 10 hours and $10 in fares. The Amtrak is $36 from Union Station in Downtown LA to the Santa Fe Station in Downtown San Diego. Trip is just under 3 hours. One more option is the Greyhound Bus, it is $19 one way and takes about 3 hours.

   Thanks for looking at that. Coming straight from london to lax but only spending two days really in san diego then back to LA for a few days more.. hotels about 10mins away from the zoo and 10mins from the maritime museum so I dont think hiring a car there will be worth it with the $30 a day fees to park the car in the hotel, ill just get a few taxis!
