8 years ago. As far as I'm aware, the fact that a medication is prescription in the UK does not mean that someone coming from a country where it is OTC cannot bring it in to the country. The only restrictions are controlled substances and those have to be a lot stronger than an antihistamine (think pure morphine or similar).

You cannot buy antibiotics without a prescription in Mexico. And pink eye is a huge thing here. Every year we seem to have an epidemic of it and it seems to effect hotel workers ...
