Record highs are around 107 or so degrees F. So likely it will fall somewhere inbetween those two, but it can vary quite alot from year to year.

I’m in the very early planning stages for a trip to Zion for next year. I’m thinking the month of September will work best for our family. My question is, what is the weather like mid to late September? I’ve done some research already and the high temps I’m seeing on various websites vary widely from high 70’s to low 90’s.

    1. Re: Best Time of Year to Visit Zion. 11 years ago. People prefer different season. I've only been to zion in the spring (late march, early april). It's hot during the day (80s) and cold in the morning (40s) with the wind. Best time for the narrows are late summer and early fall. The water is lowest and the temperature is nice.

Nonetheless, there could be snow on the ground at Bryce Canyon in early April. Capitol Reef is at lower elevation than Bryce, but higher than Zion. It doesn't get nearly as much snow as Bryce does. North Rim of the Grand Canyon is still closed at the time of year you mention. Zion climate info can be found here:

It really does depend on the year Imo. For example, this weekend is supposed to have around 110 degrees F in Zion, and around 117 Degrees F in Las Vegas where I live. While thats not as common it does happen in July and August sometimes, and makes it too hot to really do anything.

As for temps, I would also look at mid April in Zion and Moab if you are looking at daytime average highs of 70F as your criteria. In mid may, you are going to see average highs of 80-85F. It will warm up quickly among the rock features in both areas. Note that Capitol Reef will not be as warm, or as busy. 2.
