11 years ago. OrlandoVic, Dollars policy for a credit card states they can hold the full amount of your rental estimate Plus 15%. Now, if the OP has prepaid, I dont know how Dollar will handle it. When you reserve thru Dollar directly, its not prepaid. Maybe the op has prepaid a package that includes car rental w Dollar.

The deposit is to assure the company that you will be returning the car where it is supposed to be returned. You would be surprised that with prepaid cars and insurance cars are not always return to the point of origin.
Then there are extortionate airport service fees and other miscellaneous charges totalling another $160. To cap it all, the whole lot is taxed for another $50. In total, our $480 rental became $899. Absolutely unbelievable - never had anything like that in all the hundreds of cars I've rented around the world.
