   An extremely serious scam is going on in California with Thrifty, using toll charges and PlatePass. When collecting our car from Los Angeles LAX airport, we were informed about PlatePass at the desk. Paying $11.99 per day (for a total of $131.97) would've cover us for any toll road, and avoid any fee, or at least that's what we've been told.

   My credit card gives me status at Hertz, and before that my AAA membership did, and I found that having status made picking up a rental much faster. If you don't have status, then either is likely fine. However, Hertz is generally better regarded than Thrifty, so all things being equal I would choose Hertz. Reply.
