Just wanted to post about another excellent experience renting from National at the Cancun airport (Feb 12-21, 2023). We haven’t been back to Mexico since Covid, but twice before had a great experience with National Rental Car in Cancun.

FYI after 20+ years of renting a car, this might have been the easiest and most quality experience yet. This time I was able to book online directly with National Car Rental. Of course it was like $5US PER WEEK including taxes.

Since there seem to be many worried posts about car rental in Cancun, I thought I would post at least one positive experience. We rented from National between June 20-25. I made the reservation online at National's US site but did not prepay.

   8. Re: National Car rental in Cancun. If you book in dollars, most rental car places convert the price to pesos at a poor rate, which can be about 10-15% worse than the official rate. When you pay pesos on your credit card, your credit card bank will convert back to dollars.

   Also, the prices on National's Mexico website are lower than the Nationalcar.com website. TPL for instance is about $14/day in pesos on the Mexico site vs $19/day on the corporate site. National is one of the few companies in Cancun that clearly identifies and prices the rental car insurances available on their website.
