FA comes back a little later, smiles sweetly at me and hands me "your new seat" . Business class! If half of what Mr. Jerk said was correct he should have outranked me on the upgrade list. (I had the sense to realize FA really wanted me to keep my mouth shut so I did, but I wanted to thank him for being such a jerk and getting me the upgrade. LOL!
I have rented a fullsize car via Hertz at Las Vegas Airport 17 October till 15th November. After reading multiple posts here about nearly everybody preferring an SUV it got me thinking about getting one ourself. I also heard that a lot of times you can get free or cheap upgrades when you arrive.

Hertz only allows it on certain class rentals. National allows it on all rentals. And, because you can choose your own car, you CAN get results in a free upgrade if a larger car is available on the aisle. Bozeman is a very small airport. No garages. No aisles. No choosing your own car.

On an over booked flight we were asked to look for suitable passengers for upgrade (SFU). However whenever any one asked for a free upgrade we would mark them NSFU, not suitable for upgrade.
For background, I have rented NUMEROUS vehicles..especially from Hertz (actually was a PC member for a long time). I received an email this morning from Hertz, which I have never seen before: "A selection of our best ever Premium Upgrades can be yours for $35* more per day… $25* more per day for Platinum and President’s Circle members".
I'm also a Hertz club member and we rent Hertz cars almost every year from Australia to the Usa. Sometimes they give us a free gps system but as we always hire top cars with them (Lincoln Town Car ao) we don't need an upgrade.
