I am not sure how the pre-authorization works, but its in the favor the the hotel for sure! Seems every time we check into a hotel our card is Pre-authorized for entire amount plus a hold amount. Upon check out, or soon thereafter, the hotel will D/C settle the full amount of the stay. So in effect we are charged over double the room rate.
