You made a mistake. No one has been scammed. You cancelled the reservation although you did not intend to. The hotel declined to reinstate it as per the terms of the contract. That is not good customer service, but it is not illegal. Good service and goodwill are very nice but the bottom line is that you cannot expect either 100% of the time.

So after waiting for a week, I contacted Agoda customer service, only to be told to wait for procedures as they are still sorting it out! and this is just 10 days before my vacation. So today, I've received another email from Agoda, stating the same thing i received initially from Furama Hotel.
