    Traffic may be a little heavy south of DC. Traffic at that time thrugh the Brandywine, Waldorf, La Plata area on 301 will be a pain because of the lights. The only other alternate to 95 south of DC is route 1 south of Quantico. You don't want to get on it nort of there - a million lights.

    The 301/17 route is a pleasant route except for 2 spots. In MD you pass thru the Waldorf/La Plata area. There are a lot of lights and depending on the time of day, it can be a pain. You will have to pay a $6 toll to cross the bridge over the Potomac River into VA.
