I have rented from Dollar quite a few times, yes they offer you a lot of extras but you just need to ask what each extra means. One very important thing about Americans is that they are always very patient and very courtious and they will explain everything, it's customer service that you seem to get more of in the US than you do here in Australia.
Dollar car rental scam. When we picked up our rental car at LAX on June 01st, we specifically told the agent at the front desk, that we did not want any extra Insurance - package because we were fully covered by the pre-booking. He asked us twice, and we answered him very clearly twice: NO WE DO NOT WANT ANY, THANK YOU.
