    3 years ago. The easiest way to get pesos along with the best exchange rate is to use your debit card to withdraw pesos at a bank ATM. You will get pretty close to whatever is the official daily exchange rate when you make your withdrawal. Even with your bank's 3% charge you will likely get a better rate than exchanging dollars here.

    So $1 US equals about 16 or 17 pesos instead of the 18.65 of the official rate. Multiply that by 20 and $20 US = 320 pesos instead of 373. I guess my point is if the tip is a dollar or 20 pesos it doesn't make much difference but if you are tipping $5 or 10 US 400 pesos is worth considerably more.
