I'd stick with the bigger national chains - Enterprise is generally a good choice. Report inappropriate content.
2. Re: Which Rental Car Companies Are Easiest at Airport. All car rental facilities at LAX are off-site, and you will need to take a shuttle from the terminal to get to one. I would stick with the major firms - Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty.
Rented from Fox rental cars out of LAX and also Costa Mesa office - the shuttle was very quick from LAX, the car had 1800 miles on it so was brand new, and dropped off at LAX and only took 5 minutes - would I rent from them again - absolutely. I used the Priceline Insurance and they were fine will that.
If you rent the cheapest car from Fox, you WILL get a PT Cruiser and it will have no secure luggage space meaning that you cannot lock your luggage in a trunk or shield it with a pull-able cover to escape prying eyes of would-be thieves. The check-in guy said I could upgrade to a Toyota Corolla w/ a trunk for an extra $7/day which I declined to do.
There will be 3 adults and 2 children traveling to LA and San Diego next month and we need to rent a large SUV (think Expedition, Suburban, Jeep Commander, etc). I currently have a reservation with Budget for an Expedition for a week that is going to run about $450 with taxes.
