Re: ITA Old Matrix = my favorite way to research flights. Yes, the old ITA Software Matrix has been my go-to for travel planning. Google's Airfare Search just doesn't offer the flexibility to thoroughly research your options. Everything seems to get dumbed down when corporations take control of good ideas.

9 years ago. As mentioned, ITA Matrix gives you the fare basis. Send or take it to a travel agent. They should be able to book the exact same fare (assuming the fare is still available by the time they try to make the booking).
Google Flights uses the ITA Matrix engine (Google owns ITA) and to my knowledge only displays available live fares. And it's a much more user friendly interface. The only thing with GF is to make sure you book directly with the airline and don't click through to a shonky third party.
3. Re: Google Flights accuracy. 8 years ago. Save. Matrix ITA gives you more options and flights to choose. Any fare that shows up on both Google Flights and ITA are the same as they use the same search engines. Neither is truly live fares. Also, discounted fares aren't always picked up by either site.
