The tram will take you from Salé to Rabat and back but be sure to look at a map ahead of time as there are two different lines. You can buy tickets from an attendant or from a ticket machine at any of the stops. Tickets are 6 dirhams one way. Tickets must be validated (little machines by door inside the tram) when you get on the tram.
