Alamo/Costco didn't come close to Dollar's DHCR prices for our 2018 trip. With some reluctance, we made the switch to Dollar. There were no problems with Dollar's quick car pick-up or drop off. For 2019, we've reserved Dollar through DHCR -- with frequent searches for lower rates at Costco & Autoslash.

BUT i see all of these companies get really bad reviews on Trip Advisor for this location.

Then there are extortionate airport service fees and other miscellaneous charges totalling another $160. To cap it all, the whole lot is taxed for another $50. In total, our $480 rental became $899. Absolutely unbelievable - never had anything like that in all the hundreds of cars I've rented around the world.
Dollar and Thrifty are sister companies and share the same nice new building at the Kahalui airport. They are our preferred rental companies on Maui and elsewhere. Husband is a Dollar Express member and I am Blue Chip with Thrifty. Either lets us go to a special line for faster service. No charge so sign up, so suggest you do so.
