Note: on the AVIS South Africa web site for booking their International Visitors special rates, the AWD box does not appear and would not help you. But on their regular web booking page - both US and South Africa, you will see it.

I have no experience with Firefly, or any other car rental company, never having rented a car. HOWEVER, I see that Firefly is part of Hertz, so service should be consistent with that of Hertz, if that means anything.
I went on a deals website and found about 10 different Avis codes. I tried each of them and only one of them worked. It took about 15% off my car rental, and when I called Avis to confirm the price and conditions before booking, they told me my discount code only applied to a select group of people and that they would check my credentials at the airport at time of pickup.

5. Re: Need rental car recommendation. Their rates (Avis) along with most other SA rental companies does include SOME insurance ie Collision Damage Waiver (with certain exclusions including driving on dirt roads) and Theft Loss Waiver. It does not include insurance for any other type of damage.
