Of the different companies to choose from, don't bother with Fox Car Rental. They get you in the door with their cheaper rates but somehow the prices skyrocket upon return. I should've trusted reviews but didn't, and got burned a couple of months ago. Edited: 14 years ago
The rental counter and pickup/return is in the airport car rental center via the airport AirTrain. The vehicle had 62,000 miles on it which was a little concerning but it turned out the vehicle was just fine. Perhaps that is why Fox was the cheapest to rent from. During the rental process they offer you the typical additional car insurance.
Technology is such that direct links from rental companies are imbedded in OTA, airline & other rental booking channels so you don’t book a rental car when a location is closed. Try it. Among which I have used, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise are good (pick-up in 5 minutes and never had an issue) but Dollar is terrible (was charged even I cancelled the reservation before the cancellation deadline).
Answer 11 of 21: We are traveling to SF in 4 days in August and will then rent a car to travel to Los Angeles. We found an incredible deal from Fox Car Rental for $202 for 5 days as opposed to almost 500 from other companies).
