12 years ago. Save. I rented a mid size SUV at Phoenix Sky for $13.00 per day in my husbands name through Priceline. I then signed up for Hertz Gold through AAA in my husbands name. I just called Hertz and because we used Priceline, we are not able to use the Hertz Gold perks like adding a second driver (myself) or skipping the rental line.
At Hertz.com: • Click on “Start a reservation”, not "Make a Reservation" as stated in the FAQs. • Click on “Add a discount” on the first screen, which is a step not stated in the FAQs. • Check the box at the bottom of the discount screen “Use my Hertz Gold Plus Rewards© Points”

So for instance in the corner of my booking screen is a 'gold members' button and when I click on that and click through 'overview' and 'value' it says "Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members: Enjoy members’ only discounts; Pay no additional driver fees for a spouse or domestic partner"
Join the Hertz Gold membership loyalty program (doesn't cost anything). Book ahead of time. Hertz has good roadside assistance included if you need it during your road trip. As mentioned Thrifty is owned by Hertz. Some neighborhood Hertz locations have Thrifty logos as well as Hertz and it's the Hertz employees who assist you. Some do not.
Getting to rental cars On arrival at Tampa International involves an easy, well-marked train ride. Renting Gold was the expected simple matter of picking a car and exiting. Returning, I missed the left exits for rental cars — one at each end of the airport — and ended up back on the seven-mile bridge to St. Petersburg again, so watch carefully.

Upon arrival at MCO I switched on my mobile and received an E-mail from Hertz stating which car I had been allocated and in which bay it was located.
