Unless you book your rental directly with Hertz, you don't get the privileges associated with Hertz Gold membership -- including the right to use the shorter line reserved for Hertz Gold members. But Hertz's prices often are significantly more expensive than the rates on third party sites like Priceline, rentalcars.com, etc.
So for instance in the corner of my booking screen is a 'gold members' button and when I click on that and click through 'overview' and 'value' it says "Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members: Enjoy members’ only discounts; Pay no additional driver fees for a spouse or domestic partner"
Today Autoslash presented a fantastic rate for 14day intermediate car with Hertz-$380, including fees. Unfortunately, it was pay now, but I did it (first time) since can cancel. I logged into Hertz with my Gold account and then it seems like they let me link my Autoslash reservation using the Hertz confirmation number Autoslash provided.
12 years ago. I joined Hertz Gold Club earlier this year while they were offering it free of charge, and made a booking for a car for my holiday last 2 weeks of April. Upon arrival at MCO I switched on my mobile and received an E-mail from Hertz stating which car I had been allocated and in which bay it was located.

My husband is a Gold member at Hertz and when we travel he just goes over to the gold section and chooses any one car that are in those isles. I am wondering if 1. They have this option at this airport and 2. If so if someone can tell me if mini vans or SUVs are part of that selection. Thank you!!
Join the Hertz Gold membership loyalty program (doesn't cost anything). Book ahead of time. Hertz has good roadside assistance included if you need it during your road trip. As mentioned Thrifty is owned by Hertz. Some neighborhood Hertz locations have Thrifty logos as well as Hertz and it's the Hertz employees who assist you. Some do not.
