A 1-day, midweek rental is expensive. Even with the above discount code, your rental will be over $60! Try hiring a car through hotwire.com. Their rates start at $22 (without insurance which should add about $20 more). Or, arrange for a car hire through an all-inclusive company like YESCARHIRE.COM.
The US car rental business can be awfully sleazy. If you deal with a counter agent at pretty much any US car rental company, they'll try to upsell you to a more expensive car or trick you into accepting unnecessary insurance or a fuel service option. Answer 1 of 13: We are arriving into Orange County John Wayne airport on 8/12 and returning out of Orange County oh the 18th. Weekly car rental with a recognized company is over $500!
5 helpful votes. Curious account of USA car rental -any thoughts? Apr 15, 2024, 1:34 AM. I recently booked a car for 40 days in the US. When I changed the pick up time by half-hour (1.30 to 2.00pm) the quote decreased by $2800 AUD! I attempted to see what else I'd changed, but everything else is exactly the same; only the half-hour time change.
More bad news....if you don't own a car, and therefore don't have your own auto insurance, you'll have to purchase liability insurance to go with your car rental.Might be best to go through something like AutoEurope.com, and choose a rate that includes liability coverage (your credit card probably gives you automatic collision coverage, but not liability).
